Profile:
Used to be a cheerfully snarky person. She is usually mean to people she doesn't know or isn't close to. Avoids speaking Spanish in order to 'fit in with the whites'. Doesn't realize she is gay. Wanted to be a publisher/editor but life had other plans. Now she tends to be outwardly hostile or rude.

History:
Born of immigrant parents in segregated Jasper Texas. She was close childhood friends with David Javier, who was her best friend. When she reached highschool she met Sylvia. Sylvia and her were best friends and had an emotional intimacy that was unrivaled. When they were 18 (1979) Hope became engaged to Javier, he had a job offer in Miami Florida and she and Sylvia had a tearful goodbye. Sylvia gave her a letter and told her to read it if she ever needed Sylvia back in her life. Syliva tries to kiss Hope and after a very awkward goodbye they go their separate ways. After 13 years of marriage to David, she realized she wasn't happy. Now in a more socially accepting world she divorces David and sells off her things to buy a car and go find Sylvia per her instructions in the letter. She takes her new close friend Dorothy with her. The day her life sort of fell apart when she was 18, she discovered Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division. The album really changed her life and she clung to it through her years. After discovering what happened to Joy Division, she discovered New Order and after listening to some of their music decides to divorce her husband.

Sylvia Vargas

Profile:
Sylvia was a photographer, she decided to go attend college at UT and moved around a lot, she would stay in one place until she was outed for being gay and then would usually move. Eventually she landed in [SPOILER] and got a little apartment with a girlfriend. She's a very sweet person and extremely romantic, a horror nut who loves photography and film. A true hopeless romantic. She's also a rebel with a heart of gold.

History:
Moved to Jasper Texas when she was 17 during the summer.When they were 17 (1978). Sylvia made close friends with Hope and they were quick to become extremely close and emotionally intimate.
